SIR - Mayo Intercultural Action (MIA) would like to take this opportunity to respond to issues raised in recent reports that some politicians in Ballina and representatives of the Ballina Chamber of Commerce are opposed to a group of asylum seekers being housed in their town.

Dear Sir - John Cooney’s article about Christina Gallagher claims that she has received a “stern condemnation” ; I would claim that it’s nothing of the sort. Nowhere does the Archbishop exercise his right to state that the content of the messages and visions are wrong, false and not in accord with the Catholic faith.
