€2m guide price for ‘the Bewley’s of Ballina town’
A landmark property in the heart of Ballina with a thriving bar and food business has come on the market with a guide price in the region of €2million. Gaughan’s, on O’Rahilly Street, has been described as “the Bewley’s of Ballina” and has been featured in newspaper and magazine articles all over the world. The property is approx 5,900 sq. ft. and it offers access from two major streets in the town. The four bedroom residence is described as being in excellent order while there is an additional two bedroom house with it own access. According to Greg Jackson, Managing Director of Gunne Auctioneers, this makes the property an outstanding commercial value with enormous potential for development.
He said Gaughan’s was more than just a bar. It was part of the landscape of Ballina town centre. “It has a wonderful history and loyal clientele in addition to the very substantial property value,” he said. Mr Jackson said such was the heritage of the property and the esteem in which it was held, he had often heard it described as “the Bewley’s of Ballina”. The sale is to take place by sealed tender unless previously sold. “Considering the package includes two houses and a thriving business in the heart of the town it will no doubt attract a lot of interest from home and abroad,” he added.
