Shocking condition of the roads in Mayo
SIR – Readers are sure to know the Moygownagh road which turns right off the Crossmolina Road (out of Ballina) after O’Boyle's pub.
This road has been in a terrible state for years. The potholes on this road have deteriorated in the past few months, if that is possible. The road is like this for at least five miles.
My family had Canadian and English visitors for the Easter. They were horrified at the state of this road.
They felt so strongly about it they took photos of the road. They will shortly lodge complaints with Mayo Co Council as they are as annoyed as I am. Real sympathy must, however, be extended to those who have to use this road every day.
Is this the kind of impression the Council wants to convey to foreigners after all the road tax they collect?
Just what do they do with this money? One might also ask why councillors and TDs are not putting pressure on the council to mend this road. They have evidently forgotten their duty to those who elected them.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Florence Craven, Maynooth, Co. Kildare.
