Balloons and music in the air
The fifth annual Westport Music Festival kicks off on Thursday week, August 5, and will run for four days, with a host of daytime activities and nightly entertainment to suit all ages and tastes.
The main stage is situated next to the Carrowbeg River, looking onto the Fairgreen and getting things underway on the Thursday night will be Mundy, with special guest, Sharon Shannon.
Friday, August 6, sees a treat for country fans with a performance from Declan Nerney, while on Saturday, August 7, U2 tribute band Rattle and Hum will take to the stage.
On the final day of the festival, Sunday, August 8, the ever-popular Heritage Day will take place, with Biblecode Sundays in concert later that night to bring the festivities to a close.
Support bands playing at the festival include Amazing Apples (Thursday), John Staunton (Friday), Strayed / Edison (Saturday) and The Three Kicks / The Molloy Brothers (Sunday).
This year, festival-goers will also have the opportunity to take to the skies with an hour-long hot air balloon ride, at either end of the day – meeting at sunrise, or a few hours before sunset.
