Mayo family set for show
A CASTLEBAR family is to take on one of the world’s top chefs in a new TV series.
Mum-of-three Sinead Merron and her family are to star in a new TV3 show which promotes healthy eating habits.
Things get heated for Sinead and her brood when she teams up with top Welsh chef Matt Tebbutt on Family Food Fight with Flora.
On August Bank Holiday Monday, August 2, viewers will see Matt try and help the Merron family break their unhealthy food habits and teach Sinéad and her husband Andrew delicious, easy recipes that are low in saturated fat.
The Merron family will then go head-to-head against a rival team, led by popular French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, cooking a main course and a dessert which is judged by a tough panel of restaurant diners.
However, Matt has quite a challenge on his hands. The Merrons are a big and busy family. Big house, busy social lives, big on sport, busy with work, and big characters. The only thing they’re not so big on is their cooking! Mum Sinéad relies on ready-made sauces, while Andrew doesn’t lift a finger in the kitchen.
The three Merron children all boast healthy appetites and a list of activities longer than their arms but Sinéad is concerned about their unhealthy diets. With a family history of high cholesterol and diabetes, Sinead is even more aware that their diets need a revamp for the better.
Can Sinead get out of her quick stir-in sauces rut? Can Andrew be taught how to help out in the kitchen?
Family Food Fight with Flora airs on TV3 on Monday, August 2, at 3.05pm.
